| OUR MISSION
The mission of the Santa Maria Valley Economic Development Commission shall be to advocate and promote economic growth throughout the Valley by stimulating, influencing, and facilitating new public and private investment, helping to create the best city in which to live, work, learn, and play.
OUR ROLE
The role of the Santa Maria Valley Economic Development Commission is to create awareness of the business opportunities and resources that are available to companies and business executives. As a part of that role, it is our commitment to see that interested companies and executives have a central location to gather pertinent, up-to-date information on our economy.
Specifically, the Economic Development Commission is responsible for:
- Retention, expansion, and/or relocation of existing businesses within the City of Santa Maria.
- Marketing the City of Santa Maria to targeted industries, businesses, and commercial retail users.
- To provide companies with assistance in locating affordable housing.
- To encourage commercial/industrial development by offering facilities and site location assistance.
- To leverage federal, state, and local funding for private investment in targeted projects and infrastructure improvements.
- Promotion, marketing and facilitation of identified key development opportunities within the City of Santa Maria.
- Coordination with appropriate City of Santa Maria departments to facilitate development projects.
- Promote tourism development and capture spendable income dollars.
- Develop strong education opportunities.
- Promote and encourage strong legislative relations.
- Strengthen existing leadership and develop additional leadership for the community.
