Santa Maria Valley Housing Summit

The 2024 Santa Maria Valley Housing Summit is put on by the Santa Maria Valley Chamber and the Home Builders Association of the Central Coast. The event will take place April 18th at Allan Hancock College's Fine Arts Center. The event program will run from 4:00pm - 6:30pm, with refreshments and networking to follow.

This event is free and open to the public, but RSVP is required at this link.

Michael Stoltey
Managing Member, MD3 Investments

Michael Stoltey is a locally born real estate developer with a passion for addressing the housing crisis. Despite focusing his efforts on the central coast, Michael has experience working throughout the state across many asset classes, including housing, industrial, mini storage, multifamily, and office. Michael graduated from UC San Diego and received his MBA from Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. Michael serves on the board of the HBAC and was recently named chair of the HBAC government affairs committee for Santa Barbara County. In this role, Michael is focused on reinvigorating discourse between Santa Barbara County leaders and home builders to partner in providing housing solutions for the county. Michael has a proven track record of success in developing housing solutions and is dedicated to working with communities to create positive change. Join Michael at the housing conference to hear more about his vision for the future of housing.

Alex has been with the County of SB Planning & Development Department since 2001 and in his current position for almost one year. After spending much of his career in current planning, Alex returned last year to Long Range Planning where he had originally started. When not working, he spends his time with family watching his kids’ sports and enjoying all the outdoor activities that Santa Barbara has to offer.

Dana has over 18 years of planning experience including prior work as a planner for the County of Santa Barbara for 13 years. Her areas of interest include mixed-use developments, residential subdivisions, open space development, and agricultural projects. In her spare time, Dana enjoys camping, hiking, riding horses and spending time with her husband Nathan and eight-year-old daughter, Kara.

In addition to shepherding multiple single family and multi-family housing project applications through the approval process, Frank has been involved in developing the City’s Housing Elements, including the update, adoption, and State certification of the City’s 6th Cycle Housing Element earlier this year.

Glenn Morris has served as the President & CEO of Santa Maria Valley Chamber since 2014, overseeing business support, economic development, and tourism promotion for the Santa Maria Valley. He brings nearly three decades of leadership to bear on his passions of community, organizational excellence, and the power of collaboration. His experience includes leading nonprofit organizations in Utah, California, and Nevada. Professionally, Glenn serves on a wide range of local, regional, and national boards focused on business advocacy, economic development, and workforce issues.
Glenn is active in leadership roles for his church, and several community organizations. Outside of work and supporting his community, Glenn finds great joy in spending time with his wife and family.

Tom Stevens
Executive Director, Space Launch Delta 30, Vandenberg Space Force Base

Mr. Thomas E. Stevens is the Executive Director of the Space Launch Delta 30 and the United States Space Force’s West Coast Spaceport and Test Range, also known as the Western Range (WR), at Vandenberg SFB, California. The SLD 30 is responsible for ensuring technical, financial, contractual, and procedural processes are in place to provide reliable, efficient, cost-effective launch and range services to the nation and international customers. As the Space Launch Delta’s lead civilian and a United States Space Force Civil Servant, Tom is responsible for Space Launch Delta 30 civilian resources, WR corporate policy and strategic direction, serves as senior technical representative, oversees acquisition efforts/source selection authority and standardization of processes for WR Spaceport and test activities.

Spaceport Integration Manager, SpaceX

Blake Bradley currently serves as Spaceport Integration Manager for SpaceX at the Vandenberg SFB launch site focusing on strategic initiatives to support spaceport development, launch rate increases, and associated community development. Blake graduated from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and then joined the SpaceX team in Cape Canaveral, Florida prior to moving to Vandenberg in 2021. Blake is a proud resident of Lompoc, California and spends his free time working on his house, enjoying the local wineries, or hiking the local trails.

President & CEO, Marian Regional Medical Center (Santa Maria and Arroyo Grande Campuses)

Prior to Sue’s current role, she was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Central Coast Service Area. Andersen oversees operations of the Hospital, as well as Marian Extended Care, Mission Hope Cancer Centers, Homecare Services, Infusion Services, Outreach Lab and Radiology, the Marian Residency programs, the Outpatient Psychiatric Unit, and Joint Ventured Surgery Centers.

Sue currently serves as President of the REACH Board (an Economic Development Entity); a Member of the Board of Directors of CenCal Health; Board of the Boys and Girls Club of the Mid Central Coast; the Santa Maria Chamber of Commerce, Shower the People; Health Services of the Pacific Central Coast, Coastal Surgical Institute, Plaza Surgery Center, Western Diagnostic Labs, Marian Foundation, Arroyo Grande Community Hospital Foundation, and Marian Regional Medical Center Community Board.

Ted Wendel
Senior Vice President for University Planning, A. T. Still University

Ted Wendel has made significant contributions to health sciences education and community development over his distinguished career. After earning his academic credentials in pharmacology from Wake Forest University, he began his career at Bowman Gray School of Medicine, where he was deeply involved in neuropharmacology research and played a pivotal role in developing the second physician assistant program in the U.S. His career trajectory took him to the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1979 and later to Western University of Health Sciences in 1986, where he founded the College of Health Sciences. In 1998, Wendel joined A. T. Still University in Phoenix, AZ, as associate provost and dean, where he was instrumental in the planning and development of the ATSU/Mesa campus. His commitment to community involvement was evident through his roles with the Mesa Chamber of Commerce and the Mesa Economic Development Advisory Board. Since 2019, Wendel has been focused on the creation and development of the Santa Maria campus of A. T. Still University, marking a continued commitment to advancing health sciences education.

Ms. Hatcher has served as the executive director of the Home Builders Association of the Central Coast where she works with her board, committees, staff, and partners to advocate for and create quality housing and communities on the Central Coast. She earned master’s degree is in Administration and focused in Nonprofit Management. She is a Nationally Certified Grants Specialist.

Ms. Hatcher has a strong advocacy background. She wrote national legislation, got it sponsored and introduced, testified in Congress, and advocated in D.C. to get legislation signed into law. She currently works with federal and local partners as President of the Anza Trail Foundation and shares her vision of a perfect union housing people and conserving open space for recreation. She enjoys hiking, paddling, sports, poetry, repelling, travel, and live music. She loves living and recreating along the Central Coast and resolving housing issues. Ms. Hatcher has two adult children and seven grandchildren.

Craig has built a deep background in real estate, urban planning, project management and financial analysis. For nearly two decades, Craig has provided his skills in both the private and public sectors.

Craig has been an integral player in many of the region’s largest real estate developments where he

has successfully applied his land use knowledge throughout the Central Coast of California. Craig’s expertise includes due diligence, entitlement, real estate development, contract procurement, consultant management and construction administration.

Craig is a seasoned leader where he most recently served at the executive level for The Towbes Group, a premier full service real estate firm in Santa Barbara. Craig’s prior experience also includes contributions at the Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District, ALG (now TrueCar), City of Buellton and Berkus Design Studio.

Chris Guillen acts as a trusted advisor on complex projects as they relate to natural resources issues. His expertise spans the intersection of land use and water law, with a particular emphasis in the State’s housing laws, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). Chris regularly advises landowners, developers, agricultural interests and energy companies on environmental review under CEQA and land use permitting requirements during all phases of project development and litigation.
